It Kicks Like A Sleep Twitch....

Editors blow my mind, there powerful, intense noise grips me has me lost in there sound for days - leaves me in dreamscape as I drown in there sonic sounds and deep dark lyrics....they create such powerful vivid images, its just magical. In This Light And On This Day is a reflection of how Tom Smith see's London, the place he now calls home.

Tom's voice is haunting, desperate, beautiful, angry and heartbreaking. He wraps the bad up in dark danceable disco melodies...its a big epic sound, without the need to be big. Ed drums with a purpose, dragging those songs to life, smacking the fear of god into the pounding beats, Russ with his filthy dirty basslines, and Chris on the funky pop sythns, with a twisted distorted feel making nothing pretty.
"You ran with the dead today, through the cemetries where the ghosts still play
The more you ran love got further away, One look and I saw inside, I saw everything you died to hide
You were the truth when you lied"

Glastonbury Memories

Well, as per it came and went and i've gone from never wanting to go again (this comes from being UTTERLY ruined) to wanting to be there right now...

Its like a utopia, its a city in its own right, you walk up that hill and look over at the sprawling metropolis of a site and im always amazed and in awe, for a few moments I stand and look just to take it in...I wish I could bottle it and share it all around.

Its not without its celebrity kuntah swanning around, or drunken/drugged idots but it is unique and that is what without doubt keeps punters going back all the time.

Had some major belly laughs, I mean where could you lay in a bed, stinking, rotten, sweaty in your clothes and talk about having to let go of a chance with *someone* coz of previous said state? Where else would someone wander past your wagon at 1am singing The River, which prompts you to sing the following line back and then both get told off as there are children sleeping, as it dawns on us we are in the "quiet" field - sorry. FOAD it was funny.

Had some visitors to Camp Quinah, where we sang, Keane and Pulp and watched people dance like Jarvis Cocker and break our toliet in the motorhome...

Off for a wander on thursday, to get a henna tattoo amongst other things, saying FOAD. Perfect. Having to explain wasnt as pleasurable!

I have to say The Boss bored us shitless, which was a shame as he was someone I really wanted to see, but he churned out a far too obscure set list which I think let a lot of people down. I really had to force myself to Dance In The Dark after 2.5hrs of waiting for it.

Cracking sets from Tings, White Lies, Friendly Fires. Lady GAGA can suck my arse she was total shit, and I didnt wanna see her fanny lips particulary. Glastonbury for me was about ONE band this year and that was BLUR, we braved the barrier for this, at times I wanted to die but it was nothing short of epic, having seen these guys many times in there prime and infact before, I had essentially got over the loss of them. As they sung tune after tune it became all too apparent what a gaping hole they had left when they disbanded all those years ago.

Tender was 8 mintues of sheer bliss, with a crowd the size of an ocean singing and swaying singing back to Damon his sweeter than sweet lyrics of this touching song. Its a memory that I wont be forgetting thats for sure.

I hope to share these same joys again with my friends, and maybe a few more people for good measure.

Until then thanks Glastonbury, my 2009 holiday!

Pyramid

Oh well the weeks have rolled by and its nearly time to head for the Pyramid! (STAGE!). Seriously I can't wait...friends, music, pear cider and a motorhome life doesn't get much better than that does it?

Glastonbury has such a laid back vibe (fuck all to do with hippies) there is none of this rushing from stage to stage so you see 50 bands to get your monies worth, it has a quiet hussle of people just enjoying themselves...it really is a special place.

Oh yeh check this band out, I love there new EP.

My Babies

I took the time finally to scan some photos of the kids from there younger days, and it caught me off guard a little at just how fast there time growing has been...its just flown by.

I hope in future years they will tell me they had a happy childhood, having always done the best we can by them and they will always have Mum & Dad waiting in the wings.

I'm emmensely proud of them, they are well rounded confident individuals with heaps of potienal which Im sure will be fulfilled in there coming years.

Children are a real gift and should be cherished, I know I cherish mine.

Lost

I thought it was great to hear that Coldplay will be giving away a live cd to every fan that see's them live this summer (not at festies) just a little payback to fans in these tough economic times. Also available as a download on the Bands official forum.

Feeling a little better.

Uh huh, I gotcha - Im just waiting for the shine to wear off.

See Jesus, see Judas.
